SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2021 FISHING REPORT

Come on norther’s and get some of this heat dissipated. This summer has been hot and humid. With the winter months the cooler weather will re-crank the reds up again. The action hasn’t stopped but we expect the action to be greater. Capt. Aerich has been finding some awesome action in the waters out of Corpus. The big news and really nice eating reds 26-27” have been weighing in between 7 1/2 -7 3/4 pounds. They have been some hearty fish.  Come on down and let’s fish.

Good catching to you,

Capt. Aerich

SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2021 FISHING REPORT

The next two months are the most productive fishing months in Rockport. The fishing right now has been great even in the heat. I only expect it will continue with the water getting back to normal after all the rain we had early in the summer. The trout bite as of late has been great on croaker and piggie perch. Early bite has been best then tapers off after sun rises in mid to late morning. I will probably start changing to live shrimp or plastic in the later part of September and continue through October. The redfish bite has been good early on fresh cut mullet or pin perch on the bottom. I will start the later part of September throwing live shrimp as we start getting the bull tides for the fall. The black drum has been good in schools on dead shrimp . Will continue with their success well into the fall on live or dead shrimp. These two months and also into November I offer all types of migratory bird hunting. That’s dove hunts and duck hunts. With early teal and doves starting mid September. So if you are looking for a blast and cast or cast and blast I can accommodate two people up to corporate groups. I also just hunt as well. I have some availability left at the end of September and limited days left in October . Plenty of hunting and fishing days left in November. So give a call or text and would love to take you out for a day to remember in Rockport.

Families, friends and fishing… some things just go together!
The fish are still biting and the dolphins are still playing – it’s time to get outdoors and play!!!

We are still waiting for an engine but there are plenty of other outdoor opportunities in Port Aransas. Check out the Nature Preserve, paddle boards & kayak rentals, and of course the beach.  Just get out into the many parks and areas to discover or just relax in the slow down.”

Notice:  I thank everyone who has tried to book a reservation this summer. Unfortunately the outboard motor is still in need of a replacement. She was a good, strong friend but just couldn’t be revived. In the meantime we are hoping the outboard industry comes back as fast and strong as a Port A. Please check back on occasion  so you will know when we are ready to go back to the fun on the water!

Getting out on the water will fill the heart, and refresh your outlook!  Always beautiful in Port Aransas!  Take a break in nature! Everything will be subject to COVID-19 Guidelines. So lets grab a mask and go fishing!

Fishing Time is Any Time!!!

What better way to spend some quality time with your family than getting outside and putting down the electronic devices and going on a fishing trip! When was the last time you cast a rod and reel? Or reeled in a fighting fish? Or went on a boat ride? Or watched the sunrise while the water gently laps on the boat?  Well…. what are you waiting for? Let’s go have a good time!!!

Summer trout fishing is still great. Of course there will be “off” days (it comes with the territory) but for the most part the fishing is excellent this time of year!  Usually I purchase extra bait because you will catch a lot of small trout and you’ll be needing more by mid-morning. Some days, topwater and plastic  lures work very well while wading in the early morning hours.  Generally speaking, Trout fishing produces great fun and action so prepare to be busy setting the hook and reeling the fish in!

Now, when I fish for redfish… if the winds are too high (as they sometimes are), that’s when I target trout!  When in search of redfish however, I use cut bait on the bottom in the middle of sand pockets or against wind blown shorelines and live bait on the leeward side of islands, channels and such.  We try to place the bait in the middle of the sand pocket so that the redfish can easily see it and take the bait!  Try and land your bait in the middle of the sand pocket so it’s easy to find by the waiting reds. Cut mullet and cut shad will be the go-too bait during this time as well!  For sure though, make sure your bait is fresh – that is a key strategy for catching the fish.  And let me tell you… there’s nothing like the hard pull of a fighting monster Redfish! (This kind of fishing is slower paced and I refer to it as beer drinking fishing!)

On calm days, I will look for schools of Black Drum in the shallows and sight cast them…sometimes they eat, sometimes they don’t!  Also, when the seas are calm I will run out to the surf for Trout and Reds or make a few drifts for Sharks and Kingfish!

So who is ready to go spend a great day or two on the water catching some fish?!   Dates book up quick, so don’t wait to book the week before you come.  Try to book at least a month in advance and remember… weekends fill-up very quickly!!   Give me a call and get the days you want booked!

SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2021 FISHING REPORT

Summer is coming to an end but the fishing is still Great!!!!!!!
We would like to say Thank You to all of our Customers for supporting our little bait shop. We appreciate your business as always looking forward to seeing you soon.

The fall fishing is wonderful we still have beautiful weather nice and warm an all of our summer fish. The traffic has slowed down and we are not as busy as summertime.

The Bay Fishing is great still lots of Speckled Trout, Redfish, and a few Black drum being caught. We are having many calm days so fisherman can venture out in the surf and catch the monster trout or put out a drift line for Kingfish and Shark on light lines….. Lots of fun !!!!!

Offshore we have seen Kingfish, Ling, Dorado Dolphin, Blacktip Shark, Spinner Sharks and Atlantic Sharpnose Sharks being caught. Kayakers are doing good with nice catches of Redfish and Black Drum.

The folks fishing off the piers at South Bay are coming in with Whiting, Sand Trout, Speckled Trout, Redfish and a few Gafftop.
Bait has been plentiful with Shrimp, Croaker and Finger Mullet leading the way. We also have Menhaden, Shad usually fresh dead when possible.

Give us a call to check the bait situation . 361-758-6900. We have days available on our bay and offshore boats.

LODGING AVAILABLE – NICE AND COMFORTABLE!  CALL FOR MORE DETAILS:  361-688-6459

Hello Everybody! Can we all say Hot! Even with the temperature way up there the fish are still eating. Trout are in the Aransas area and eating croaker, shrimp, and piggy perch. Reds are in the flats eating virtually anything you put in front of them. Some days fishing is easy and then the next day you may have to work a little harder to catch a limit. Overall the weather has cooperated and hopefully September will see a slight cooling trend. Since school has started there are way less boats on the water, so now is the time to plan your visit to the Coast.

UNTIL NEXT TIME – LET’S GO FISHING!!!!!!  Ph: 361-688 6459
