NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2021 FISHING REPORT

I truly love this time of year it being fall. We finally received a decent cool front here in the coastal bend mid October which dropped our temps, both water and air temps, which I prefer over the doldrums of September conditions. We also received our “bull tide” which we always get during October. I prefer to fish high water, but it can scatter the fish somewhat.  If you know where and what to look for, it doesn’t get any easier than fall conditions. All these conditions improve our catching abilities compared to the heat.    As the weather starts to get cooler and hold lower daytime temps during November and December the fishing only gets better in my opinion no matter the species you’re after, nor the bait you choose to use.  What I’m most excited about is hunting seasons. That particularly being duck season! It’s a nice change if pace from fishing alone.  I still have some availability during our duck season, in which we can just hunt, or we can do a combination of hunting and fishing all in the same day.

NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2021 FISHING REPORT

Families, friends and fishing… some things just go together!
The fish are still biting and the dolphins are still playing – it’s time to get outdoors and play!!!

“All Captain Jackie wants for Christmas is an Engine to get back on the water.  I am reaching out to everyone. Be on the look out for a 30 inch shaft 250 HP outboard preferably a Yamaha new or used after all the COVID-19 delays I am not too picky.  Just send the info I’ll do the rest.  Also Peace on Earth and Goodwill to All.  But let’s celebrate on the water!  Seriously I’m starting to sprout roots from being on land too long.”

Notice:  I thank everyone who has tried to book a reservation this summer. Unfortunately the outboard motor is still in need of a replacement. She was a good, strong friend but just couldn’t be revived. In the meantime we are hoping the outboard industry comes back as fast and strong as a Port A. Please check back on occasion  so you will know when we are ready to go back to the fun on the water!

Getting out on the water will fill the heart, and refresh your outlook!  Always beautiful in Port Aransas!  Take a break in nature! Everything will be subject to COVID-19 Guidelines. So lets grab a mask and go fishing!

Fishing Time is Any Time!!!

What better way to spend some quality time with your family than getting outside and putting down the electronic devices and going on a fishing trip! When was the last time you cast a rod and reel? Or reeled in a fighting fish? Or went on a boat ride? Or watched the sunrise while the water gently laps on the boat?  Well…. what are you waiting for? Let’s go have a good time!!!

Summer trout fishing is still great. Of course there will be “off” days (it comes with the territory) but for the most part the fishing is excellent this time of year!  Usually I purchase extra bait because you will catch a lot of small trout and you’ll be needing more by mid-morning. Some days, topwater and plastic  lures work very well while wading in the early morning hours.  Generally speaking, Trout fishing produces great fun and action so prepare to be busy setting the hook and reeling the fish in!

Now, when I fish for redfish… if the winds are too high (as they sometimes are), that’s when I target trout!  When in search of redfish however, I use cut bait on the bottom in the middle of sand pockets or against wind blown shorelines and live bait on the leeward side of islands, channels and such.  We try to place the bait in the middle of the sand pocket so that the redfish can easily see it and take the bait!  Try and land your bait in the middle of the sand pocket so it’s easy to find by the waiting reds. Cut mullet and cut shad will be the go-too bait during this time as well!  For sure though, make sure your bait is fresh – that is a key strategy for catching the fish.  And let me tell you… there’s nothing like the hard pull of a fighting monster Redfish! (This kind of fishing is slower paced and I refer to it as beer drinking fishing!)

On calm days, I will look for schools of Black Drum in the shallows and sight cast them…sometimes they eat, sometimes they don’t!  Also, when the seas are calm I will run out to the surf for Trout and Reds or make a few drifts for Sharks and Kingfish!

So who is ready to go spend a great day or two on the water catching some fish?!   Dates book up quick, so don’t wait to book the week before you come.  Try to book at least a month in advance and remember… weekends fill-up very quickly!!   Give me a call and get the days you want booked!

OCTOBER 2021 FISHING REPORT

Summer is coming to an end but the fishing is still Great!!!!!!!
We would like to say Thank You to all of our Customers for supporting our little bait shop. We appreciate your business as always looking forward to seeing you soon.

The fall fishing is wonderful we still have beautiful weather nice and warm an all of our summer fish. The traffic has slowed down and we are not as busy as summertime.

The Bay Fishing is great still lots of Speckled Trout, Redfish, and a few Black drum being caught. We are having many calm days so fisherman can venture out in the surf and catch the monster trout or put out a drift line for Kingfish and Shark on light lines….. Lots of fun !!!!!

Offshore we have seen Kingfish, Ling, Dorado Dolphin, Blacktip Shark, Spinner Sharks and Atlantic Sharpnose Sharks being caught. Kayakers are doing good with nice catches of Redfish and Black Drum.

The folks fishing off the piers at South Bay are coming in with Whiting, Sand Trout, Speckled Trout, Redfish and a few Gafftop.
Bait has been plentiful with Shrimp, Croaker and Finger Mullet leading the way. We also have Menhaden, Shad usually fresh dead when possible.

Give us a call to check the bait situation . 361-758-6900. We have days available on our bay and offshore boats.

NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2021 FISHING REPORT

Hello Everybody!  The weather and water are beginning to cool.  I have been looking forward to this trend for sometime.  Fish are being caught everyday.  Reds are in shallow water eating just about anything you put in front of them.  Perch, shrimp, mullet, crab, shad, and artificial lures are being used to trick the reds.  Trout are eating the same thing, however, perch, croaker and shrimp are producing the best.  Black Drum are being caught on shrimp.  School has started along with hunting season.  This means far less boats on the water which makes your day on the water that much more relaxed and enjoyable.  All of the other activities offered here on the Coast have less folks as well, making this the perfect time to visit.  Plan your visit, you will be glad you did.  The Coastal Bend is a superb place to relax and regroup.

UNTIL NEXT TIME – LET’S GO FISHING!!!!!!  Ph: 361-688 6459

NOVEMBER/DECEMBER 2021 FISHING REPORT

WE HAVE ACCOMMODATIONS – SO BRING THE FAMILY!!

I think finally we will start getting some cooler weather as I write this fishing report. It has been exceptionally hot for October but the bite for Reds and Drum continues to be excellent. I will still focus on reds and drum for the next couple of months on grass shorelines and over shell reefs with live or dead shrimp. I will also cut crab and mullet into the mix. Fishing out of the boat on bottom or under a cork. I will be doing more wading trips as we roll into duck season with artificial lures for reds and trout. This can be very rewarding and exciting adventures if you have never tried it. I shoot in November excited about duck hunting and look forward to getting the season underway. The record rainfall this year has made our back marshes look great. I am already seeing a lot of ducks. I have good days left of duck season dates open. I also do blast and cast on a regular basis. I have plenty of availability to take care of your fall/winter fishing and hunting needs. Just give me an email, call,or text. I will be more than happy to take care of you. Enjoy the cooler weather and Happy Holidays.

Weekends fill-up fast so book your trip early!!!

OCTOBER 2021 FISHING REPORT

CORPUS CHRISTI BAY FISHING TRIPS!! Come on norther’s and get some of this heat dissipated. This summer has been hot and humid. With the winter months the cooler weather will re-crank the reds up again. The action hasn’t stopped but we expect the action to be greater. Capt. Aerich has been finding some awesome action in the waters out of Corpus. The big news and really nice eating reds 26-27” have been weighing in between 7 1/2 -7 3/4 pounds. They have been some hearty fish.  Come on down and let’s fish.

Good catching to you,

Capt. Aerich
